Dr Ahmet Begde

Postdoctoral Researcher

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher on the READ-OUT project, supervised by Professor Vanessa Raymont and Dr Ivan Koychev. My research focuses on understanding early detection mechanisms and identifying biomarkers in dementia, with a particular emphasis on developing more accurate prognostic tools and effective treatments for individuals living with the condition.

Before joining Dementias Platform UK, I completed a PhD in Dementia Studies at Loughborough University and an MSc in Neurorehabilitation at the University of Nottingham. My interdisciplinary expertise combines rehabilitation science and dementia research to address the challenges of brain ageing and develop targeted therapeutic strategies. My research also contributes to transforming the diagnosis of dementia in clinical settings, with the aim of implementing accessible and accurate diagnostic tools that can be used in the NHS.
